Shared Support Services Southeastern Ontario (3SO) providing supply chain services to the seven Southeast LHIN hospitals is once again the recipient of the GHX Canadian Operational Excellence Award for 2016. This is the third time 3SO has achieved this top Canadian award since 2013.
The award recognizes 3SO’s efforts to drive down costs by using innovative, leading practices and systems. It is awarded by the international organization, Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX), a healthcare technology and services company that helps finds ways to reduce the cost of doing business in healthcare.
“Continuing to drive new supply chain efficiencies and reduce healthcare costs is more important than ever,” says Allan Katz, Chair, Board of Directors. “Partnering with GHX and IT host to apply the toolsets has allowed our dedicated team of supply chain staff at 3SO and our member hospitals the ability to maintain the efficiencies we have gained to excel at a national and international level year over year.
Collaboratively with our seven member hospitals in Southeastern Ontario, 3SO has worked relentlessly to improve operational performance and drive down costs. Since our inception, this has translated into over $19 million in annual cumulative savings for the seven hospitals – healthcare dollars that get reinvested to support direct patient care.”
Finding those efficiencies and savings was one of the main reasons behind the formation of 3SO in 2008.
3SO continues to be the only Canadian supply chain organization that has received the “GHX Best 50” award in 2012 out of more than 4,000 North American supply chain organizations. This year 3SO ranked in the top 2%, narrowly missing a repeat in this category as well.
