Volunteers are an integral part of our organization and we rely on over 1000 of them to enhance the lives of patients, clients and residents across Providence Care. Donating over 50,000 hours of service in just one year, it is safe to say that our volunteers make a world of difference to our organization.
Providence Manor celebrated their volunteers at a buffet style luncheon with the theme being “You are our Life Savers.” Awards were given to volunteers with 5, 10 and 15 years of service and all new volunteers were recognized and thanked.
Each year a volunteer who makes an outstanding contribution to Providence Manor is recognized for the difference they make. The recipient this year was Mary Pat Byrne who has been volunteering with Providence Manor for 5 years after retiring from her long career as Director of Spiritual Health at Providence Care. Mary Pat brings with her an energy to the Manor that is truly contagious.
The second appreciation event was held in honour of all of our volunteers at St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital and Mental Health Services. Awards were also given at this event for years of service and a special volunteer who is retiring after 20 years of volunteering in the staff library at St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital was recognized and given a special gift.
Providence Care partners with community members who give of their time and skills to support patients, clients and residents in a variety of ways. Volunteers join us in our Mission to “enhance the quality of life” of each person – and many find their experiences as a volunteer personally fulfilling as well.
