Providence Care is Southeastern Ontario’s leading provider of specialized care in aging, mental health, palliative care and rehabilitation. Each year, we support over 15,000 individuals across the region through a broad network of programs and services tailored to meet the needs of those we serve.
Continuing the legacy of our Founders, the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul, Providence Care continue their mission of compassionate service through:

- Providence Manor long-term care home
- Providence Transitional Care Centre
- Hospice Community Programs & AB Smith Homestead House
- More than 20 community programs
Fully affiliated with Queen’s University and St. Lawrence College, Providence Care is a centre for healthcare, education and research. We are members of the Ontario Hospital Association and sponsored by the Catholic Health Sponsors Ontario (CHSO).
We are more than healthcare; we promote independence, enhance quality of life and redefine traditional healthcare through partnerships, innovation and research.

Our work takes place across southeastern Ontario, which includes the ancestral and current homes of numerous and diverse Indigenous peoples.
Providence Care is situated on the traditional and ancestral lands of the Algonquin, Anishanaabe, Haudenosaunee, Mississauga, and Wendat peoples.
We thank all the generations of people who have taken care of this land for thousands of years. We recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place.
Today, this land is still home to many First Nations, Metis people, and other global Indigenous Peoples and we are grateful to have an opportunity to live, work and continue stewardship on this land.
Catholic Health Care Provider
Providence Care belongs to a system of 21 Catholic health care providers across Ontario, sponsored by the Catholic Health Sponsors Ontario (CHSO). The sponsored Organizations were established by seven Congregations of religious Sisters. The Sisters were health care pioneers who created a culture of excellence, compassion, respect and inclusion that is still relevant today.
As sponsor, CHSO continues the legacy of the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul by ensuring that the Catholic identity, mission and values, strengthen and enrich health care delivery in our Ontario.
Our Foundation: University Hospitals Kingston Foundation
The University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) is the registered charitable organization supporting Providence Care and Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
While government funding helps cover the basics, it doesn’t cover everything. That’s where community generosity comes in. Thanks to donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations across the region, UHKF is able to invest in equipment, hospital redevelopment, research, and education—improving care for everyone who walks through our hospital doors.
