Regional Specialty Mental Health
The Regional Specialty Mental Health team supports individuals living with serious mental illness to support recovery and improve access to care across Southeastern Ontario. Our team offers time-limited mental health treatment and interventions, working alongside community providers to build stronger mental health services close to home.
Who We Help
This program supports individuals aged 18 and older who would benefit from:
- Specialized mental health treatment
- Help developing a recovery-focused care plan
- Support transitioning between services
- Access to services closer to home, when possible
We also assist community providers and organizations in building their capacity to care for people with complex mental health needs.
What to Expect
This outpatient program provides:
Individualized assessment by an allied health clinician (Occupational Therapist or Social Worker) and a personalized care plan to meet your mental health goals
Collaboration with your current care team
Individual or group therapy sessions
Support for your transition to community-based care
Support for achieving personal recovery goals
Family and care partner involvement:
Encouragement for care partners to participate in your care.

How to Access the Service
For Patients and Care Partners:
Speak with your healthcare provider about a referral to our program. The program also accepts self-referrals.
For Referring Partners
Patients can be referred using the South Eastern Ontario Addictions & Mental Health Service Access Form referral form.
Eligibility criteria
- 18 years or older
- Have a serious mental illness
- Live in Southeastern Ontario

Appointment & Discharge Information
Appointment Information
A Clinician will contact you to book your initial appointment/assessment meeting.
Discharge
When you are discharged from the program, there are many things to keep in mind. When you are being discharged:
- Ask for explanations and written instructions about your care and your medications (if applicable).
- Discuss with your clinician their recommendations to other community-based services such as Recovery College or Peer Support Ontario
- Ask and be informed of appointments that have to be made when you are discharged, how to contact the providers, and to understand the reason for each appointment and what information you will need to bring with you.
- Know who you should call if you have questions after discharge – write down contact names and phone numbers or have a member of the care team provide this information to you in writing.

Hours of Operation
Our facilities operate 24/7, but building access and available services vary by location and time of day. Some entrances may be locked, and ID badge or intercom access may be required.
