Requirements for volunteers:
- Submit a medical clearance form (includes tuberculosis testing and up-to-date immunization records
- Provide letters of reference (upon request from Volunteer Services)
- Attend an interview with Volunteer Services
- Complete a Criminal Reference Check Form online with the vulnerable sector portion completed or visit your local police station.
- Attend an orientation session
Summer Youth Program
We are thrilled to offer the Summer Youth Program for the summer of 2022!
Providence Care is recruiting student volunteers between the ages of 14-18 to volunteer at Providence Care Hospital, Providence Transitional Care Centre or Providence Manor.
The program will run Monday to Thursday from July to August.
What is the Summer Youth Program?
The Summer Youth Program provides an opportunity for students to gain hands on experience in a health care environment and further develop personal skills while receiving volunteer hours. We are looking for students who are self-motivated and have a genuine interest in the well-being of others.
Some of the activities that students may participate in include: recreation therapy programs, fundraising, assisting nursing staff, special events and friendly visiting with patients, clients and residents.
What are the requirements to become a Summer Youth Volunteer?
• Students must be at least 14 years old or have just completed grade 8
• Must commit to volunteering a minimum of 40 hours throughout July and August
• Must submit one letter of reference
• Attend a virtual interview with Volunteer Services
• Submit a medical clearance form (includes tuberculosis testing and up-to-date immunization records (upon being accepted into the program)
• Must attend an orientation scheduled for the end of June
• Must be reliable, motivated, compassionate, flexible and work well with others
• Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (two doses + 14 days)
• Wear a face mask at all times

• Space in the program is limited, however everyone who submits an application before the deadline will be contacted for an interview
