Mary Pat Byrne has been a dedicated and loyal volunteer for the last 13 years. You can find her at Providence Manor every Thursday, volunteering in a variety of roles that are important to her, as well as the residents.
βI believe one of the most meaningful things we do in life is caring for one another – that can be as simple as saying hello, calling a person by name, having a smile, recognizing they’re having a rough day, encouraging them and just letting them know that you care about them,β says Mary Pat.
βIt is very humbling to see people’s faces light up when I arrive for a visit. Especially since COVID, I’m aware how important it is to provide social connections for our residents. When they see a familiar face, they know what you can do for them and it seems to make their day. Time flies when visiting,β she adds.
