Providence Manor COVID-19 Outbreak on Sydenham 3 Declared Over
A COVID-19 outbreak declared on Sydenham 3, a resident home area at Providence Manor, is now over. The outbreak was originally declared on September 24, after residents tested positive for the virus.
All Sydenham 3 residents were placed on contact and aerosol precautions, monitored closely for symptoms and tested for the virus throughout the outbreak.
All staff members who worked on Sydenham 3 participated in on-going surveillance testing for the duration of the outbreak.
Providence Care, along with Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFL&A) Public Health, declared the outbreak over on October 11 because no further transmission of the virus has occurred on Sydenham 3.
All quarantine precautions and measures in place as a result of the outbreak have been lifted; however, the following safety measures remain in place across Providence Manor:
- All staff members are actively screened daily for COVID-19 symptoms. They continue to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), practice physical distancing and good hand hygiene.
- All staff members, essential caregivers, designated care partners, essential and general visitors must participate in COVID-19 surveillance testing.
- If the resident home area is not in outbreak, up to four essential caregivers, designated care partners, essential visitors or general visitors are permitted to visit a resident at a time.
- All visitors must pass screening. If they do not pass screening, they will not be permitted to enter. Individuals who pass screening must wear a mask at all times for the duration of their visit.
COVID-19 outbreaks continue on Sydenham 4, Sydenham 5 and Montreal 4. A COVID-19 watch continues on Montreal 5.
COVID-19 protective measures, including screening, masking and reducing visitors, remain in place. Any changes to safety measures will be informed by local and provincial data, and in consultation with our infection prevention and control team.
