The Seniors Mental health inpatient services meets the needs of older adults with age-related cognitive and functional impairment with responsive behaviours. These usually include severe aggression, disinhibition, or other behaviours which are difficult to manage in other settings. We also provide service to clients who are suffering from severe age-related mental illness, or who may require admission under the Mental Health Act.
Clients of the Seniors Mental Health inpatient service are usually over 65 with dementia, experiencing severe and frequent responsive behaviors or age-related psychological symptoms that cannot be managed in their current setting. Medical co-morbidities must be stable and consent from patient or substitute decision maker is required unless patient is being admitted under the Mental Health Act.
