What Our Patients Are Saying
I recently received 10 weeks of Physiotherapy at Providence Care and there is no other physio I would rather have been working with! From the front desk into the physio gym every person is helpful and friendly. Everything is 100% professional from the therapists and equipment. Thanks to everyone who helped me get through my total knee replacement physio!

Maintaining a Clean Environment
Keeping Our Site Clean
Whether you’re visiting a Providence Care site to work, learn, receive care, or visit, it’s important that we treat our spaces and surrounding communities with kindness and respect. One meaningful way to do this is by helping keep our environments clean.
Please be mindful of your garbage and dispose of the following items properly:
- Cigarette butts go in cigarette butt disposals
- Masks and gloves go in garbage bins
- Plastic, paper coffee cups and cans go in recycling bins
- All other waste should be placed in garbage bins
Thank you for helping us keep Providence Care sites and our neighbourhoods clean.
Pet Visits
Pets (cats or dogs) must be over one year old, free of skin lesions, diarrhea, fleas/ticks and other parasites, must be well tempered, house trained, obedient and kept on a leash at all times.
Prior to any pet visit, the Program Manager should be notified, and the owner needs to provide proof that vaccinations are up-to-date. Visits can occur in the patient/client’s room, not in common areas (e.g. Dining Room).
Respectful Environment
Providence Care values respect, dignity and compassion and we work to ensure that our patients, clients, families, visitors, staff and volunteers are treated with care. In keeping with these values, abusive, aggressive, racist or violent language or behaviour is not tolerated in our facilities. We thank you for your consideration and cooperation in making Providence Care Hospital a safe place to be for all.
Scent-sensitive Environment
For the safety and comfort of those with allergies and scent sensitivities, please do not wear scented products or bring scented flowers when you come to PCH. Local florists are able to suggest no-scent floral options. Scented personal products include shampoos and conditioners, hairsprays, deodorants, colognes and aftershaves, perfumes and lotions.
Smoke and Vape Free
In accordance with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere at Providence Care Hospital. This includes inside the building as well as the entire grounds. Smoking and vaping are not permitted in the parking lot or while seated inside a parked vehicle. Violators are subject to fines and disciplinary action.
Support to quit smoking: A partnership with the Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation is being used to help inpatients with their smoking cessation or harm reduction goals. For more information, speak with your care team.
Visitor Information
Visitors are welcome to spend time with loved ones, as they play an important role in healthcare and wellness.
Family and friends are asked to speak with a member of the care team if you have questions about best times for visiting.
The main entrance is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. After 10 p.m., patients and visitors can use the intercom to gain entry and Protection Services will open the doors.
Sustainability
Providence Care Hospital incorporates ‘green’ design to reduce our impact on the environment. Patients and clients, as well as everyone who works and visits the hospital, has the opportunity to experience the outdoor environment as an important part of the healing process. The design encourages a healthy environment both within the hospital and on the facility grounds.
Providence Care Hospital was awarded LEED® Silver certification. The LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) system rewards points for innovations that minimize the impact of new construction on humans and the environment. Green buildings are built to protect occupant health, use resources such as energy and water more efficiently, and reduce the overall impact of the building on the environment.
Psychiatric Patient Advocate Office & Rights Advisor
The Psychiatric Patient Advocate Office (PPAO) is a provincial advocacy and rights protection program of the Ministry of Health. The PPAO provides free, confidential services to mental health clients independent from the hospital and its service providers. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or by appointment by calling 613-544-4900, ext. 53081.
