What Our Residents Are Saying
Providence Care has supported my desire to see more Indigenous programming and events, and now we have our own native circle. It’s a beginning, and I look forward to seeing how this grows and continues to develop.

Maintaining a Clean Environment
Keeping Our Site Clean
Whether you’re visiting a Providence Care site to work, learn, receive care, or visit, it’s important that we treat our spaces and surrounding communities with kindness and respect. One meaningful way to do this is by helping keep our environments clean.
Please be mindful of your garbage and dispose of the following items properly:
- Cigarette butts go in cigarette butt disposals
- Masks and gloves go in garbage bins
- Plastic, paper coffee cups and cans go in recycling bins
- All other waste should be placed in garbage bins
Thank you for helping us keep Providence Care sites and our neighbourhoods clean.
Pet Visits
Pets (cats or dogs) must be over one year old, free of skin lesions, diarrhea, fleas/ticks and other parasites, must be well tempered, house trained, obedient and kept on a leash at all times.
Prior to any pet visit, the Charge Nurse should be notified, and the owner needs to provide proof that vaccinations are up-to-date. Visits can occur in the patient/client’s room, not in common areas (e.g. Dining Room).
Respectful environment
Providence Care values respect, dignity and compassion and we work to ensure that our patients, clients, families, visitors, staff and volunteers are treated with care. In keeping with these values, abusive, aggressive or violent language or behaviour is not tolerated in our facilities. We thank you for your consideration and cooperation in making Providence Manor a safe place to be for all.
Scent-sensitive environment
For the safety and comfort of those with allergies and scent sensitivities, please do not wear scented products or bring scented flowers when you come to Providence Manor.
Local florists are able to suggest no-scent floral options.
Scented personal products include shampoos and conditioners, hairsprays, deodorants, colognes and aftershaves, perfumes, and lotions.

What is Providence Manor Redevelopment?
Construction is well underway for the redevelopment of Providence Care’s new facility for long-term care also referred to as Providence Manor. The new home is located at the park-like, historical Motherhouse site owned by the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul.
The new Providence Manor will provide a welcoming, home-like, resident-centred environment that allows individuals to meet friends and family in comfortable spaces. It will incorporate amenities that enrich residents’ quality of life and provide an engaging environment for them and their loved ones.
The modernized Providence Manor will replace the original home and provide 77 new and 243 upgraded beds. The new home will be six storeys. Level 1 will include main level amenities, and levels 2 to 6 will be resident home areas.
There are 318 washrooms, which includes 305 resident washrooms.
The home will enable residents to come together and connect with each other, families, volunteers and staff. Features of the new Providence Manor are planned to include:
- accessible and easy to understand floor plans that promote health and wellness
- secure outdoor spaces for access to fresh air including courtyards, gardens and balconies
- improved dining areas and seating for social interactions
- naturally lit and sun-filled spaces
- dedicated space for spiritual health and worship
- bringing a rich sense of community directly to residents and their families through common areas found in the current home such as the beloved pub and veterans lounge
- a partnership with the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, bringing seniors and children together under the same roof with a daycare
We are excited to redevelop Providence Manor into a home that will serve the needs of the community well into the future and is expected to welcome its first residents in late fall 2027.
