Your Safety

Everyone at Providence Manor, including residents, visitors, staff, physicians, and volunteers, contributes to keeping our hospital safe.

Protection Services (Security)

Protection Services staff routinely come on site and do a walkabout around the perimeter of the home and inside. They also provide security services when required. In the case of an emergency, dial 4444 from any internal phone and state your location and describe your emergency.

Emergency Procedures

In the event of an emergency, an Emergency Code will be announced overhead. Please pay attention to the announcement and follow directions provided. Staff and physicians are trained to respond to Emergency Codes.

As per the Fixing Long-Term Care Act 2021, emergency response plans are available:

Elder Abuse

Elder abuse can happen to anyone.

It includes any action — or lack of action — that causes harm, distress, or fear to an older adult, especially when trust is involved. Abuse can happen in families, friendships, or care relationships. If something doesn’t feel right, or if you’re worried about an older adult’s safety or wellbeing, please tell a member of your care team. We’re here to help.

Need to talk to someone right away?

Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario offers a free, confidential Seniors Safety Line: 1-866-299-1011 Trained counsellors are available to listen and help. Learn more at Eapon.ca.

Suicide Prevention and Emotional Wellbeing

Feeling low, lonely, or overwhelmed can happen — especially during illness or major life changes. Depression is common in older adults, and it’s okay to ask for help.

If you’re feeling depressed, or if you’re worried about a loved one, please talk to your care team. Support is available, and you don’t have to face this alone.

More information and support is available at ReachOutNow.ca and Canada.ca – Mental Health & Wellness.
