Our facilities operate 24/7, but building access and available services vary by location and time of day. Some entrances may be locked, and ID badge or intercom access may be required.

By Bus

Parking Information
There is a 15 minute pick-up and drop-off area directly outside the Main Entrance of Providence Transitional Care Centre.
Payment is required Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking is free evenings and weekends.
Parking rates are set by Queen’s University and are subject to change.

Maintaining a Clean Environment
Keeping Our Site Clean
Whether you’re visiting a Providence Care site to work, learn, receive care, or visit, it’s important that we treat our spaces and surrounding communities with kindness and respect. One meaningful way to do this is by helping keep our environments clean.
Please be mindful of your garbage and dispose of the following items properly:
- Cigarette butts go in cigarette butt disposals
- Masks and gloves go in garbage bins
- Plastic, paper coffee cups and cans go in recycling bins
- All other waste should be placed in garbage bins
Thank you for helping us keep Providence Care sites and our neighbourhoods clean.
Pet Visits
Pets (cats or dogs) must be over 1-years-old, free of skin lesions, diarrhea, fleas/ticks and other parasites. The animal must be well tempered, house trained, obedient, and kept on a leash at all times. The Program Manager should be notified prior to any pet visit. Owners must also provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations. Visits must occur in the patient’s room, not in common areas (e.g. Dining Room).
Respectful Environment
Providence Care values respect, dignity and compassion, and we work to ensure our patients, clients, residents, families, visitors, staff and volunteers are treated with care. In keeping with these values, abusive, aggressive or violent language or behaviour is not tolerated in our facilities. Thank you for your cooperation in making Providence Transitional Care Centre a safe place to be for all.
Scent-Sensitive Environment
For the safety and comfort of those with allergies and scent sensitivities, please do not wear scented products or bring scented flowers when you come to PCH. Local florists are able to suggest no-scent floral options. Scented personal products include shampoos and conditioners, hairsprays, deodorants, colognes and aftershaves, perfumes and lotions.
Smoke and Vape Free
In accordance with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere at Providence Transitional Care Centre. This includes inside the building as well as the entire grounds. Smoking and vaping are not permitted in the parking lot or while seated inside a parked vehicle. Violators are subject to fines and disciplinary action.
Support to quit smoking: A partnership with the Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation is being used to help inpatients with their smoking cessation or harm reduction goals. For more information, speak with your care team.
Visitor Information
At Providence Transitional Care Centre, we understand how important it is for patients to see their families and friends. Visitors are welcome to spend time with loved ones, as they play an important role in healthcare and wellness.
The main entrance is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. After 7:00 p.m., patients and visitors can use the intercom for assistance, and Protection Services will grant access.

What is Transitional Care?
Transitional care is intended to provide the right level of care for patients to support their move back to the community or to another level of care. This model supports individuals who no longer need acute care but who are not yet ready to go home, and helps patients avoid an emergency department visit. Using the “assess and restore” principles of convalescence, short-stay respite and restorative care, services at PTCC are designed to provide adults with an integrated approach to care.
What services are provided at Providence Transitional Care Centre?
The following services will be provided:
- Restorative care for patients to build strength and stamina, enabling them to better manage at home or prepare for higher intensity rehabilitation
- Transitional care for patients after an acute or rehabilitative stay while they prepare for discharge
- Cognitive behavioural support to help patients manage mild to moderate behavioural and/or cognitive impairment or wandering
- Short-stay respite for caregivers and frail, older adults who are experiencing fatigue/burnout providing care for their loved one
- Convalescent care to help patients maintain strength while awaiting another medical procedure or transition to rehabilitation
What are the visiting hours?
Visitors are welcome to spend time with loved ones, as they play an important role in healthcare and wellness. Family and friends are asked to speak with a member of the care team if you have questions about best times for visiting.
