It’s the season of giving! Providence Manor, Providence Care’s long-term care home, has launched its third annual Resident Giving Tree. This heartwarming initiative ensures residents feel remembered and cared for during the holidays. Many residents do not have regular family support, and this program offers the Kingston community an opportunity to spread joy and remind someone they matter by fulfilling a resident’s holiday wish this festive season. Last year, the community’s generosity made the season brighter for 105 residents.
“This initiative is incredibly meaningful to residents. Each gift brings joy, comfort and a reminder that they are valued and celebrated during the holiday season,” says Michelle Dupuis, Executive Assistant at Providence Manor. “Since launching in 2023, the Resident Giving Tree has grown tremendously, with more residents than ever receiving gifts and support from our community.”
The Resident Giving Tree, located in Providence Manor’s main lobby (275 Sydenham Street, Kingston), features ornaments containing wish list items for residents in need. Staff, visitors, volunteers, and members of the public are invited to select an ornament wish list, in person or online, fulfill the wish and return the new, unwrapped items to Providence Manor. Gifts will be wrapped and delivered on Christmas morning by staff, creating moments of joy and connection for residents.
How to participate:
- Choose an ornament from the tree in person at Providence Manor, 275 Sydenham Street, or choose one online and email info@providencecare.ca with the ornament number.
- Each ornament on the tree holds a resident’s wish list—something they would love to receive.
- Purchase the gift: After selecting an ornament, simply purchase the item(s) requested.
- Drop off your gift: Bring the unwrapped gift to Providence Manor Reception, located at 275 Sydenham Street in Kingston, ON. Drop-offs are accepted daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please ensure you attach the ornament tag with the gift.
- E-transfers: If you’re unable to shop, you can also make a contribution via e-transfer. Send to payments@providencecare.ca, and mention “Providence Manor Giving Tree” in the notes. Staff will purchase the requested items for you.
- The deadline for purchasing and dropping off gifts is 15, 2025.

About Providence Manor:
Providence Manor is a 243-bed home located in downtown Kingston. The charitable home provides care for residents who have stable medical conditions but require 24-hour nursing care. Basic, semi-private and private accommodations is available in the home.
Construction to redevelop Providence Manor is underway, which will relocate the home to Providence Village. The modernized Providence Manor will replace the original home and provide 77 new and 243 upgraded beds. It is expected to welcome its first residents in late fall 2027.
