All media for Providence Care is coordinated through the Communications Department. Members of the media interested in speaking with a physician, researcher, staff member, or leadership representative at any Providence Care site must contact the Communications Department in advance of any interview, photo, or video opportunity.

A Communications representative must accompany members of the media while on-site at Providence Care. The Communications team also facilitates requests for filming (documentaries, television, feature films, and special projects) at our sites.Â

Media Policy
At Providence Care, we are committed to protecting the privacy and dignity of our patients, clients, residents, and their families. There are strict rules in place regarding photography, videography, and the sharing of information. The Communications team is here to ensure these policies are followed and to help facilitate media access responsibly.Â
- Privacy: Personal health information is confidential. Providence Care will not confirm or comment publicly on whether an individual is receiving care at one of our sites, or on their condition, without the individual’s consent or that of their substitute decision-maker.Â
- Consent: Staff and/or patient consent must be obtained for all interviews, filming, or photo opportunities. In some cases, medical staff may be asked to assess a patient’s ability to provide consent.Â
- Identification: Media are encouraged to identify staff and physicians by their Providence Care title in all stories related to their work or role.Â
- Escorts:Â Media must be accompanied at all times while on Providence Care property.Â

Freedom of Information
Freedom of Information requests are made through Providence Care’s FIPPA Coordinator under Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).Â
