Resting-state EEG delta and alpha power predict response to cognitive behavioral therapy in depression: a Canadian biomarker integration network for depression study
Dr. Roumen Milev and Dr. Claudio Soares recently co-authored a publication in “Scientific Reports”, a prestigious Nature journal that showed promising results for patients receiving treatment for depression using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). CBT is a form of psychological treatment using a counselling approach where patients talk to their therapist. Their team showed that scans of brain’s electrical activity, called EEG, can help determine which patients are likely to benefit from CBT. This type of brain scan can help identify patients who should receive CBT treatment and help offer other types of treatments to patients who do not show favorable brain scans.
