Yesterday marked an exciting day for Providence Care Hospital. Providence Care, in partnership with Infrastructure Ontario, announced the close of the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage to design, build, finance and maintain the new hospital.
Read the news release on the close of the RFP stage in its entirety.
The three shortlisted proponents that were announced in December 2012 (Integrated Team Solutions, Plenary Health, and Providence Alliance for Caring Environments) have each submitted their bids outlining their concepts for our new hospital.
Each of the three bids that have come in is comprised of thousands of hours of work by the proponent teams based on the specifications and design work that was completed by our redevelopment team with input from many of you – our staff, physicians, volunteers, community partners and members of the public.
Now that the bids have been received, they will be reviewed extensively by our evaluation committees to select a preferred proponent. The committees will assess the design, technical and financial aspects, as well as the facility maintenance portion of the proposals. Each will be scored against a comprehensive checklist, designed to measure compliance with our specifications laid out in the RFP. An executive evaluation committee will bring together the recommendations from these individual areas and create a consensus on the preferred proponent.
With Thursday’s RFP closing we anticipate the announcement of the winning bid to take place in the fall. Once the preferred proponent is announced, negotiations will take place to sort out any areas of non-compliance and the signing of a contract in the late fall. We anticipate breaking ground and starting construction of the new Providence Care Hospital in early December. It will be at this time that we can give everyone a first look at the initial design plans for our new hospital.
At this exciting milestone we want to take the time to say “thank you.” We would not be celebrating this exciting stage if it were not for all of you. Many of you have contributed your expertise into the planning process so far – we believe it’s your knowledge that is going to make this a great hospital for Providence Care to continue on its tradition of compassionate care.
