Research in mental health encompasses four areas of patient care – forensic services, senior’s mental health, community and adult mental health. Within the adult mental health is the Mood Disorders Clinic. Overall research in mental health addresses treatments and assessments in a variety of areas such as Alzheimer’s disease, bipolar disorder, major depression, dementia, and Schizophrenia, PTSD, mania, and persons in the justice system. Research in the area of treatments to address mental health include IV and intranasal ketamine therapy, clozapine, electro convulsive shock treatment, pain relief, transcranial magnetic stimulation, transcranial Direct Current Stimulation, support for return to work, cognitive behavioural therapy, online delivery of psychotherapy, wearable devices, sleep studies, music therapy, ketogenic diets, and lithium treatments.
We also have several ongoing clinical trials that are testing new pharmaceutical and biological interventions.
