The Providence Care Research Facilities are located on level 2 of the Providence Care Hospital. This space provides large research labs, private clinical exam rooms, large flex space for student desks, meetings rooms and accessible washrooms. Researchers house their equipment in our research labs for data collection purposes. Current research equipment includes – motion capture marker less cameras, eye-tracking system, and KINARM robotic device. The research area consists of three clinical exam rooms, a flex workspace area with access to desks and computers for students and research assistants, three meeting rooms, two large research rooms, and accessible washrooms.
Biohazard Level 2 Lab
This lab allows researchers to use biological samples collected from research participants and allows processing of samples and storing them onsite. This lab is equipped with a biosafety cabinet, two centrifuges, -80 C freezer, and an emergency eyewash station.
Flex Workspace
The flex space (~1000 square feet) is equipped with workstations with computers designed for learners and research personnel to have a desk space for managing their research projects while working onsite. Examples include summer students, graduate students, research assistants, research coordinators, and research visitors. The Research Space Policy guides this space and other research space use.
Research Labs
We have two large research spaces (1500 and 1300 square feet each) that house research equipment including motion capture cameras and robotic testing and training equipment. These collaborative spaces are open for new researchers interested in conducting clinical research on our patients in Providence Care. Please contact our Research Department to learn more about using these spaces. Current usage spans interdisciplinary research that involves neuroscientists, biomedical engineers, physical therapists, the department of engineering, and our sister organization KHSC.
Meeting Rooms
These are rooms are available for booking for people from across the organization including researchers. The spaces are used by research teams for presentations and discussions as well as by clinical teams that need access to OTN equipment.
