Allison Philpot
As the Executive Director, Medical Affairs, Patient Flow & Research at Providence Care, Allison Philpot provides administrative oversight to the Medical and Academic portfolio. This includes financial management, human resource planning, credentialing, contract administration, maintenance and application of the Professional Staff By-Law and Hospital Rules and Regulations, and research administration. The department of Medical Administration also provides support to the Medical Advisory Committee, its subcommittees and the Medical Staff Association.
Allison collaborates with hospital leadership and external stakeholders to establish and maintain strong partnerships with key community partners, including Queen’s University and health care providers throughout the region. She works closely with the Vice-President, Medical and Academic Programs and the Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee to lead improvement initiatives related to the Medical and Academic portfolio.
Allison holds a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from the University of Ottawa, and a BA from Queen’s University. Previously, Allison has worked at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre where, she worked directly with the Chief of Staff in the Medical Administration portfolio, and under the VP Planning for the construction of a 360-bed hospital. At Accreditation Canada she helped enhance the quality in Ontario’s hospitals, and helped found the country’s first Project Management Office dedicated exclusively to improving hospital quality.
She also worked at the William Osler Health System in Brampton, where her major project was a clinical LHIN-wide Telehomecare project for patients being treated remotely for COPD. Internationally, she has worked for healthcare organizations in Bangladesh, the United States, and Honduras. She is the author of three peer-reviewed journal articles, and is a certified Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute.
