Did you know?
- Using a heated hydrotherapy pool has the potential to reduce muscle tension and relieve pain? This is because the warm water increases circulation and relaxes muscles.
- Exercising in water reduces weight bearing through joints, making it an excellent place to exercise arthritic joints.
- When moving slowly in water, the buoyancy will assist the movement helping with range of motion. For more of a challenge, increase the speed of your movements in order to use the water as resistance. This can help increase your strength and endurance.
The heated, salt-water Therapy Pool, located on Level 0 of Providence Care Hospital, is easily accessible for participants with mobility limitations; the pool features double railings and low riser stairs, a ramp and access to pool chairs, as well as an electric lift that spans the length of the pool.
The Therapy Pool is scheduled to open on September 11. For pool schedule and booking guidelines visit the Therapy Pool page.
Where can I get more information on the seniors water fitness group that is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Is this open to the public? Look forward to hearing from you.
