The Hon. John Gerretsen, MPP for Kingston and The Islands, made an announcement at the Providence Care Founders’ Dinner on March 26, 2011, that Providence Care Hospital has been approved for construction by the provincial government.
After many years of work and so much support from the community, our patients and clients, our staff and our volunteers – we are moving forward with plans to build Providence Care Hospital. The new hospital will replace the aging facilities at St. Mary’s of the Lake and Mental Health Services.
On March 26th, 2011, John Gerretsen, the MPP for Kingston and The Islands, made an exciting announcement at the Providence Care Founders’ Dinner. Minister Gerretsen announced approval from the provincial government to proceed with our redevelopment plans.
Since the announcement, staff at the Kingston Hospitals’ Joint Planning Office and Providence Care, have been working hard to finalize the functional program, master plan and master program for the new hospital and the hospital site. We hope to have the documents completed and approved by the Providence Care Board of Directors by the end of June 2011, when we will submit them to the Ministry of Health and Long Term-Care.
